So this question is a result of transfer case interference with the cab floor on my ‘63 (early so really a ‘62 model) FJ45 SWB:
Question: Does an early (pre-‘64) side shift tyranny and associated transfer case sit lower, or is the t/c at a different angle than a later (‘64+) top shift tranny with its associated transfer case, all other factors (engine, engine mounts, frame,...) being the same?
Here’s the issue:
Pic shows interference. Info: early ‘63 FJ45 SWB cab, frame, and frame engine mount brackets; 1F engine with ‘64 block date, assume mount ears are stock to that motor, 1F rubber mounts from SOR; top shift AICO tranny and t/c are rebuilds from Georg at Valley Hybrids; motor/tranny look pretty much level to the eye; cab body mounts are Energy Suspension OME 40 repops, but the driver‘s side isn’t fully seated because of the floor interference; the cab needs to still drop a bit because the driver’s side rocker panel (and side steps) are too high off the support arm, as well as potential fitment issues with the fender.
Thanks for any help. Posted here because of the early lineage of this rig. Paul
