Andrew and I made it up to just above Lenora, the old town and minesite at Mt Sicker. There was a few inches of snow which made things a little slick, and my still open diffs weren't great. Time to get that compressor in.
Went in through Hillcrest road and Chemainus river park, then up through bush past a burned out minivan on its roof.
Eventually I couldn't go up the icy track anymore and Andrew, just ahead of me, couldn't turn around, so we left my truck and proceeded uphill. 100m later, just shy of a turnaround, we got stuck, but a couple of short winches had us up and turned around. Once back at my truck by the minesite, we had lunch and poked about before heading down. Turns out that some of the descent was harder than anticipated, and we eventually found a clear and easy descent route.
No damage, discounting my transfer case shift lever, bolts falling out, but a quick fix while airing up had us moving and only an hour late.
Not a big day, or complicated, but I scared myself enough sliding about.
FWIW, Lenora is big enough to park a bunch of vehicles for a tailgate BBQ, and I did spy some spindly Charlie Brown style trees, but the amount of snow there soon could negate its use as a Christmas tree run location. But if it was reachable, the kids would have a blast tobogganing.
