Should I rebuild 20r or go 22r??

I just bought back my first truck. 1980 Toyota (is it called a Hilux??) truck... it's smoking and missing pretty bad and has the original 20r in it.. What should I do??? I am new to this engine and other than driving the piss out of the truck when I was 16, have no other experience with it or the 1st gen yotas...

22r bottom with 20r head. Or do an engine swap for something with more power and fuel injection and be happier.

can I put my head on any 22R engine with no problems?? What are the advantages??
