Looking at a new set of shocks in my future. Running OME heavy currently but would like to know if anyone has an experienced opinion on Ironman heavies.
I have had a set for a couple few months seem to handle my weight haven't really abused them to much do to riding the bus most of the summer. I liked the ome but they don't last long and I went a little longer with a used set of king 4" comp coils. Pretty pricey compared to others I think too.
Ranchos are crap
I blew two rear Ranchos out - the adjusters jammed and never worked properly - two got sheared off - the rubber booties are fabulous for holding in mud, water and plant debris, the shock bodies started rusting in 2 months - other than that - no problem! And I wheel only on Sundays.
Get Australian stuff.
Drove two 80s back to back on rough roads, one with Ironman Foam Cell Pro, the other with OME Nitrocharger. Same springs, and trucks similar weight and build.
Both felt great. Ironman was a bit more compliant on small bumps, and also took big bumps and dips well. Can't really go wrong with either. While I may appear biased, I run Ironman on my own truck, and I did have to pay for them. I'd pick them every time.
I was checking out the Ironmans at this past CC days, the foam cell pro ones ( if I recall that correctly) certainly looked impressive, especially when compared to their regular little brother.
I had my Rancho 9000's replaced a couple years ago now with the OME nitrochargers. They were really good at first, but faded somewhat and are now more like how I remember the worn out Ranchos. But I did not replace my very tired coils, so that did not help their life I would imagine.
I went with new Ironman shocks. Sorry Jason, I couldn't pass up the Crusin' the Woods price from Metal Tech. No tax either. I took them on their first trip this past weekend up Whipsaw. So far very happy with the ride.
