Quick question; What size are the threads on my '77 4 speed shift knob? Did a search and came up empty.

If there's nothin on the interwebs, you could always just take your shift knob to Home Depot or Ace and fiddle around with their bolts until you find the right one. :meh:

That figures, I have 12 x 1.75 and 12 x 1.5 taps. :bang:

Would anyone happen to know the thread size for the transfer case in a '74? It is smaller than the 12x1.25 on the transmission.
I don't have a knob on it to take to a hardware store and none of my dies fit.

TIA.

My one piece 4 speed TC knob has M8x1.25 threads.

What's crazy 8/80 the thread pitch for the transfer case shfters increased to the size the 60 series transmission shifter which is larger than the 40 series transmission shifter.

Interesting Chewy boxes. Haven't seen those for a few years in Arizona. You still getting them?

I got an M8x1.25 nut and it wouldn't even start to thread.

After looking at the picture you provided, it looks like the threads on my TC shifter have been stripped half way down.

I dont recall ever seeing an FJ40 shifter cane with a lock nut. Doesn't FJ40 knobs have plastic threads?
