So i decided to do my own first oil change and filter change last weekend. After i was done i went to update the service reminders in the "brain" system. The next drive when starting the truck the "Maintenance Required Soon" came on... So i went in and checked the service stuff and made sure it was set for 10,000 miles. It still came on, so finally getting frustrated after it continued to show every restart i went and hit delete all.

So now none of the items show any service coming up, but yet every time i start the truck that message comes up...

What will cut that damn message off?

I took this from ggebhardt @ clublexus. I did everything you did in frustration and then found the right way to reset it. My opinion is that it is a bit ridiculous to have two different locations to track oil changes....

While engine is running set trip ODO to "Trip A"

Turn the engine OFF

While pressing the ODO button, remove your foot from the brake and hit the ignition button once (ACC) and then once again (foot off the brake so engine does not start).

Hold in the ODO button till you see the message that "Oil Maint. Required" has been reset.

Thanks for the info, that worked.

I agree, really stupid to have a button to set and reset the service info in the "brain" but yet still have to go do a silly super top secret process to get the maintenance message off. I don't get it.

OMG what a stupid way to reset. That was driving me completely crazy though. Thanks for sharing, worked like a charm

Every Toyota I've owned has been reset on the trip A and position 2 of the key/button. Toyota simply added the oil change interval to the service page as well. Takes less than 10 seconds. Not seeing the big deal here. All of this is in the manual.

And, the radio portion is useful if you have a need to reduce or extend your drain interval. Not to mention all the other options it gives for air filter or tire rotation or even custom settings.
