Sell 100 series to get another 100 series

Not crazy, the 06-07 of course has a bit more pep thanks to the 5-speed and vvti. I think the question is why do you want to get rid of the 2000 (rust, mechanical problem, etc). That might help inform how much more you're willing to spend on an 06+ on the same platform.

It's always the 'devil that you know vs the one you don't ' argument because an 06 is still nearly 20 years old and will need just as much baselining and maintenance as your 2000. IMO age and mileage should not be the reason for that upgrade, but the power and newer styling may justify the cost.
 
I bought my second 100 to split miles between my original one and the new one, and it's worked out great. But mine are the same year so it's easy on parts/maintenance/troubleshooting/modifications.
 
Honestly I've been thinking the same thing. I Like my wife's hundo enough that I would to stash a low milage one some where for when we get to 350k+. Nobody is making a vehicle these days that give me the same "fizz" as James May would say.
