How do i replace bent 2wd 4wd selector shaft on 1983 HJ47 do i need to remove tx case

Just unbolt it form the side of the front output nosecone

Doesn't work like that on the split transfer case which the HJ47 has. Those do not have a nose cone that unbolt. Never dealt with this on a split case but the shaft that shifts between 2WD and 4WD comes out of the front half of the transfer case.
