I just picked up a '70 and a '71 FJ55 and I'm wanting to make one into a decent daily driver for when I retire to the mountains of Colorado. I'm planning to install a SBC with either a 700R4 or 4l60E depending on what I can find. Hence my desire for advice.

I know I can adapt the GM to the stock 3-speed transfer but are there any better and more cost effective solutions for transfer case adaptations? Is there anything that is GM that works with the off-set axle configurations?

I'm not planning to swap out axles so is there any other TC alternatives that might work well with the std. Totota drive-train. I want to be able to travel down the freeway and not drive full-throttle, like I do in my FJ40, just to keep up with traffic.

Ultimate use would be mainly highway and around town. No serious off-roading since that's what I have the FJ40 for.

I'm content with the AA adapter to the Toyota transfer and that's the current plan unless there's something I'm not aware of. I know I'm on the the hook for driveline changes and all the associated work. (I went through it on my 40).

Prefer automatic transmission and V8.

So the NP205 will accommodate the off-set axles okay?
