I never hear about folks replacing their mids in the front. Re-foaming or even replacing altogether. Do these stay mint the entire lifespan of the vehicle? LOL

My mids, center dash speaker, rear door speakers, and barn door speakers still look 100% mint at 19 years old. One of my front tweeters had a broken solder joint but otherwise still worked. Bought a new one from Lexus for around $100.I never hear about folks replacing their mids in the front. Re-foaming or even replacing altogether. Do these stay mint the entire lifespan of the vehicle? For the standard kit, it does not come with the foam for the mid drivers in the front door. I have located replacement foam and will be going after this in the next few weeks. I don’t know that mine are blown, but given that the foam on all of the other speakers had disintegrated, my assumption is they need to be replaced. I don’t have any rattling or buzzing or any noise that would indicate it, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are not blown out. I think the super cold weather this winter (and age of vehicle) helped my speakers move towards the light a little bit more quickly.I never hear about folks replacing their mids in the front. And for the person that mentioned a center – speaker, what model might that be on? I’ve never seen it in a hundred.
He's referring to his ML-equipped GX. Where did you locate the replacement foam for the mids?
Order one of my brackets and I will make sure it fits those Focals. My passenger side mid is in perfect shape. Haven't checked the driver side yet.
NOTE: I posted this in another thread but.....
Regarding the front speakers, I ordered the Focal RSE 165 speakers from Amazon, and the actual seller sent me the "ASE" with no extra charge. These DO NOT fit. The holes don't line up, the diameter is too small. RSEs are discontinued, so I will have to find another brand.
I have the Focal ACX or whatever it was, reference in post #2 in this thread, for the rears. I haven't checked fitment yet, but apparently they fit according to post #2.
I learned about Morel 254 mids from this site due to folks blowing theirs, so it happens.I never hear about folks replacing thebecause folks werehe front. Re-foaming or even replacing altogether. Do these stay mint the entire lifespan of the vehicle? LOL

I have my own little design that I created, and now I shoehorn everything from OEM 5 1/4" up to 8" units in the front doors.

01LX when purchased (CarsandBids) had a blown sub and very poor sound from the front doors (seller had said system was MINT and sounded great!). I contemplated the re-foam and decided NEW was they way to go. It also allowed me to add sound matting to the inside of the doors, coat with woolwax, replace the factory door speaker covers, change the door weatherstrip and seals, and replace one of the lower door outer mouldings.
The first and easiest to do was the rear subwoofer... SKAR EVL-65 from Amazon (about 65.00) Allowed me to clean out the entire inner rear quarter panel, add sound deadner mat and coat with woolwax. Pulled the rear seats, rear carpet, and ran rear-view camera cables at the same time (into the rear upper hatch from under front passenger seat)
Front doors got Focal RSE165 lowers (6 1/2") and tweeters with crossovers (129.00). I kept the factory mid range speakers active, still sound decent.
Rear doors got Focal ACX-100 4" 2-ways. (109.00)
Crutchfield purchase included the needed METRA wiring harnesses.
These additions and mods brought the sound quality to a more than acceptable range for my 60+ year old ears!
Additionally, I re-used the original factory speaker mounts and wiring, so I was able to keep all the factory components while adding the NAVIKS rear-view camera option (NK-2300) along with the audio improvements. NAVIKS now offer an Apple Carplay option as well.
I hope this is worthwhile...

It is a bespoke spacer in a way. If you are willing to order the Metra 72-8104 yourself, I can get you the adapters within a week. I don't have any harnesses right now.So this just sits on top of the existing speaker bracket to accommodate? How soon get I get a pair? I see you're all the way out in FL.
They do fit… I have them installed and in use for the past two years. You may have to bend a tab or use a new mounting screw, but they do fit and function without issue. Should only take about 5min to figure out. Those Focal ACXs don't fit either.

I saw one of you IG reels insinuating that it was more work than expected. Your description here doesn’t sound too bad, just not a drop in. Was it enough to make you reconsider reforming vs replacing?I fit them. Just took modification, drilling new holes, new hardware, foam tape to fill in gaps, etc
Was hoping for more of a simple solution but I guess nothing ever is, considering the situation for the front speakers and tweeters too.
