Second row seat latch

My rear seats (the middle row) won't stay latched down. Whenever I bit the brakes hard the seat tries to flip up. I've checked to see if something was under it keeping it from latching. It feels like it latches but if I lightly pull on it it comes unlatched. The jaws don't look like they're worn out or bent. The only thing I can find is the handle to release the seat latch doesn't go back all the way when it is latched down. Anyone have similar problems or any pictures of the mechanism they could share thanks!

Is just the seatback flipping forward, or the whole fold & tumble?

Are both sides doing this?

Only thing I can think of off top my head is the hook & strap that hold the seat 'up' by hooking to the 2nd row door 'oh $hit' handle - check & repack neatly that little hook & stash it in the seat bottom pocket. Seems like if they just are shoved in they won't let the seat drop all the way & latch down.

If not, I'd look at the side that latches & see what is different on the side that flips/won't stay latched.

If you look for pics of the seat mod people do to get the 2nd row to recline further, you might find useful pics - been a few years since it was a popular mod but info is here in the forum. HTH.

I have the same issue with my driver side 2nd row seat. The latch fully rests on the hook but it will not latch and lock into place. Just kinda sits there... Haven't been able to spend anytime looking at it yet.

I’m having this same issue. Same 2nd row DS seat won’t stay latched down. Did anyone come up with a solution?

Same issue for me...found THIS THREAD mentioning if the rod is bent it changes how it holds. I'll check mine this weekend but I came searching for other updates aside from "lube the mechanism".

Maybe you could try to slightly loosen the bolts for the catch bar and see if it will latch. If that fixes it than you need to adjust the latch bar and re-tighten the bolts.
