Most anyone who has sat in an early pickup knows how minimal space is available. My original bench is in perfect condition, but it is very uncomfortable for long trips. Are there any thin backed aftermarket seat options that could be used in a 1st generation pickup that do not decrease the amount of driver room?
My other option is too involved for me to do anything about it anytime soon; find another unsmashed cab and use it for making an extra cab out of the existing one and then bobbing the front end of the bed. (the back is already bobbed). A lot of work. I've driven a friends 82' that has the back of the cab cut out and a fiberglass "4runner" floor kit installed. While it provides the room for normal seats, I really like having a cab with doors for both the winter and silt filled summers.
