I may be missing the answer but I’ve searched on this site and on Google and cannot find brackets this situation. I would think they’re out there so any help would be appreciated.

I have seats similar to these but the tan is darker and closely matches my 40.

I found these brackets but not for a 40.

Here’s my 40… :)

Looks like a nice rig. year? You need a local fabricator to modify/copy your current seat brackets to fit the new seats.

have just recently installed procar seats in my 1970-40.

May be one of the few times I would have been happier to hand a project to someone else and let them do it.

Its painful to say that but I have “lots” of time in mounting two seats and I still did not get the clean end result I wanted.

Sometimes its better not to watch the sausage being made.

Reach out to @cumminscruiser. He has a DIY metal tubing seat bracket. Must weld yourself but I was happy with the results. Installed procar seats in my 1971 FJ40.

It might be more helpful if you posted the actual manufacture of the seats you have. Just because a seat looks similar does not mean a bracket will work.

If you don't have the manufacture then measurements for the mounting points for your seats would help.

Great call - will do once I’m home.

Looks to be a 77. Can't tell if the cut on the lip of the top towards the center is for the windshield washer nozzle like on the 78. The pewter wiper arms would be a 77.

Personally would use the factory seats mounts from the cruiser. 9/72-1/79 is good start for adapting aftermarket seats. Something to think about during this time period the passenger's (right seat) is higher than the driver's seat. This is because of the fuel tank. So use them and driver's is lower that the way stock seats were stock.

Here are a few pics. Tracks are 18 3/4” wide, centered to holes. Each 19” long.

I’ll likely wire these up and utilize the seat adjustments as needed.

This will be an interesting thread. Take us with you thru this whole project. A lot of us have this project in our future.

Those are not an aftermarket seat which means you're not likely to find any ready made brackets to fit your FJ-40. That means you're going to have to find a universal made for the FJ-40 or fabricate your own. If you can find a bracket for these seats that fit another vehicle they maybe modifiable to fit the FJ-40.

Good Luck!

Here's what I did. Ford expedition middle row seats on Bestop seat sliders. I built so OEM buckets can be bolted in later on after I restore with no mod's. OEM's in pretty bad shape and expense to restore... I'm into these seats for $160 each.

Jeez, ... get your mind into three dimensions, ... and fabb' 'em up!

This ain't rocket science and you aren't David Bowie!

You’re not wrong about making them myself, first issue is not having a welder. Looking for one of those right now.

You gotta come up with a better analogy next time! I hope to hell he’s not number one on your playlist.

Yeah, ... got a little mouthy! Mea Culpa!

You just need a chopsaw and a friend who can weld.

Cream's Crossroads sits on top!

If you use flat and angle iron you can just drill and tap, then use grade 8 bolts/nuts to assemble your brackets. Heating and bending will work too. Cardboard Aided Design works for lay out.

Got any Fab Handy friends?
