60 is too short of a term...you need 3 characters minimum...try 60* rear

Brian, thanks. I tried 60* rear, had the blank page. I tried 60*+rear, same problem, then fj60 rear, same problem. This was at ~7:45-7:48 PM CST.

at ~7:49-7:51 I tried both rear+springs and rear springs - got the blank page again. At 7:52 I searched for fj40 - that worked.

Early today I had done multiple word searches with sucess. Sorry, I don't recall the search terms or times, just that it was some time before 1:00 PM CST.

just had the problem in the fj55 forum. I searched "front bumper" and got the white page then just searched "bumper" and it worked. I did ctrl f5 and did searches again with the same results. Hope this helpes some.

I tried some things here on my work computer, it just doesn't like the word "front" in any forum. I haven't come across anything else yet. I just won't use front in my search:D

"connection" works but "cruiser" gets the white screen:eek:

Woody,

Advanced Search, 80-section, keywords=rear hatch rust

White screen. 9:00AM 22-jan-2007

Seems to me it doesn't like 4 letter words coming first. If you do the same search with "hatch rear rust" it seems to work fine. I've had the same problem with a number of other combinations where changing the word order allowed the search to work. I don't remember what they were though.

Cheers,
JFS III

I'm getting the white screen now. Worked OK a few minutes ago.

Hmm... Was getting white screen in advanced search. Went to chit chat and did "search forum". White screen for "OEM steel wheel FJ cruiser", but worked OK twice for "OEM steel wheel".

that's the error I'm getting on white-screen searches...Ryko? Is there a tweak to make there?

tweaked again...until someone tells me differently, I consider this a solved problem <whew>

<whew> - that makes two of us then!

apparently, the issue was with very common words in the database...and possibly the order in which they were entered and the filtering sequence that the search uses....

I have been thrilled with the performance and the accuracy of the search. I have a pretty good memory on the content of the threads that I read so picking words that I know were used in an old post is a little easier for me. With very few exceptions, the SEARCH function will find what I am looking for if I pick the right SEARCH terms.

The only improvement that I would suggest would be to loosen the "search interval" a little. Right now it is 20 seconds and there are times that I will do a search, get no results (or too many results), change the search terms, and the system will make me wait till the timer counts down.... all the while I am still pressing "Search" so it isn't really saving any load on the system 'cause I am pounding away on it.

I think a 10 second SEARCH interval would still work... ya think?

if I could, Star'd users would have a shorter delay than the rest of the world...my concern is that SEARCH is open to everyone, including guests, and allowing shorter times between searches may beat the server to death...
