Within 800 meters of having reversed then driving, usually 5-10 seconds of this horrific noise. If I park so I don't have to reverse, then it usually doesn't happen. I know little about cars. Any idea what this could be? Turning doesn't effect it, and if it starts braking doesn't really stop it, either. Happened going 10 and going 50 mph.

You haven't got a stick or stone stuck in the brake disk or around that area? Don't be afraid to take the wheel off in that corner and have a look. There's not a lot that can go wrong doing so and you'll probably easily spot the problem. Inspect your brake shoes while you're at it.
