Hopefully some on here can help.

I did front brakes on the GX because the rotors were warped and pulsing when you come up to a stop. I replace the rotors with new Centric rotors and pads with Akebono pads, didnt open the system at all. Took it for a drive and felt a little soft initially and didnt feel like it stopped as well as previously. Bedded in the pads and that seemed to help but I still feel like the pedal is a little soft or it does not stop as well as it previously did.

I was reading on line that you should open the master cylinder cap when compressing the caliper pistons. I have never done this before but maybe it caused some issue? No weird abs issues or anything that I have noticed. Any advise is appreciated.

I just picked up a ‘16, same color.
I was doing research on lifts and wheels and found this thread.
How are you liking the Ironman kit? They have a deal going on right now that includes UCA’s for free.
I had OME’s on my 80 series and loved the ride. I know they are different trucks but how do you like the Ironman kit vs the OME’s?

your truck looks great btw.

I actually really like the FCP suspension, I would definitely purchase again. The ride is firmer than stock but in a good way. Still comfortable but with less wallowing in corners/nose diving when breaking. I never really updated this thread and its funny you replaced today because I actually just put a bunch of parts up for sale. Parting out the GX to purchase something else. It never really grew on us and I want a truck again.

Good looking rig there. I hate that you're gonna give it up, but understand.

Just like rice up there, I've got a 17" and interested in that sale ironman has going on. Did it perform well off road in-comparison to the OME?

I know that feeling… not that much more room than your taco either. What are you getting?

Thank you for the reply.

What are you planning on getting rid of? Do you have a link to parts you are willing to ship?

I only ever had the OME on the Tacoma so its hard to compare leafs versus coils on the GX. Overall it road much nicer off road than the OME but then again the GX road much nicer stock off road compared to the stock Tacoma.

If you are interested I will be removing the lift from the GX and will have it for sale. I want to say there is about 4K miles on it. It was installed March of this year with KYB top hats for the coilovers and Ironmans upper control arms. No issues with it what so ever.

I have already sold a few things but I would probably be willing to ship the Lift and thats about it at this time. I still have all of the boxes for everything. I have Weathertech mats for front, rear and cargo but would probably be more trouble than its worth to ship them.

Selling because we really need a truck again and the GX fell short or was disappointing in so many areas. The head unit/hvac controls, even with the Grom installed was enough for me to basically hate driving the thing. No digital speed option in the gauge cluster + the 8bit graphics, heated/cooled seats are a joke and there is a big delay on things even like touching the door handle to lock the door. Also the steering is strange, you turn the wheel and then there is like a slight delay and the truck turns. It got better after the lift and alignment but I drove several others and they are all like that. My work car is a 17' VW Alltrack and its almost embarrassing to drive the GX after the VW as far as tech and interior build quality. With that said its all pretty minor things and its been dead reliable. Just a lot of minor annoyances.

I think my wife is getting a 1-2 year old F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost motor. It checks all the things we currently want in a daily. Power, fuel economy, luxury features, interior room, cargo room, latest tech etc. Im 41 and have owned over 50 cars so I could care less if it will last to 500K miles I would never want to drive the same thing for that long anyway lol. I have never really like the Tundra and just cant bring my self to buy one, we will see what they are like when the new model comes out anyway.

I have been hunting for a 70 Series Land Cruiser or maybe FJ40 for a fun toy for me, so I will still be on the mud forum LOL.

Figured since I s*** talked the GX a little I would also post some good

Did a 2 week road trip with my wife and 2yr old son to Utah and back in April and the truck performed flawless and did good off road including some places I drove back in I probably shouldnt have with out a winch or another rig lol. Did a bunch of light off roading, some hiking and a little camping. Went to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Sand Hollow State Park and Snow Canyon State Park. Memorable trip since we had never really been to Utah. My son did the road trip like a champ, was really suprised! Not going to lie I kind of want to move to Utah now

Looks like you all had a good time! Move to Utah, you won’t regret it. It’s stunning there and outside of SLC metro people are very friendly. Not to say SLC was bad, it’s just a large city and still comes with large city problems. Lol

We were in Utah back in June and loved it.

I'm with you. I like the GX, but I'm used to more space and haven't really fallen in love with it yet. I loved my 08 Silverado, even though it had zero technology. Not even a backup camera. Once things get moving again I think I'll look into the new F150/F250 Tremors or a Power Wagon. It's a good thing resale is good on these. :)
