school me on trannies

heres the deal, i need overdrive. the NV4500 is overrated and overpriced. i'll go that route if need be but i'd like to have a look at toy 5 speeds. i will be mating to a diesel but it is a chevy bolt pattern, i assume one of the many bellhousings for a chevy v-8 swap in a pickup, thats fine, and i have a toybox marlin doubler in the back, so technically i can look like a mini transfer case too.
so, what are the tranny options? what do i want to look for?

Talk to the guys at Marlin Crawler. They would be better at answering your questions about which toyota transmission might work.

BTW, what diesel engine are you using and what will it be going into?

isuzu NPR truck engine in my little piggy (see sig) i guess i mostly wanted to know if you guys are having probs with any of the 5 speeds, i think i will be running a R-150

The very early 5 speeds had some issues, but a R-150 should do you very well.
