BJ60 vs HJ60? Pro's and con's? Anything to watch out/really look for?? My buddy is looking into importing and has located a HJ60.......that's why I'm asking. Thanks!

Did you do any searching? One is a 6 cylinder the other a 4(BJ)

There is tonnes of info in here on them both. The engine in the Bj is a 3B and the engine in the HJ is a 2H. The six is a later engine for Canada.

The 3B is suspected to be tougher. The 2h has more power. But many 2H's in Canada came with auto trannies. Not all tho.

Yes, I did attempt to search. I guess I'm too diesel unsavvy that I don't know what to search for. Any help? I'd love to read more about them.

About all I know of the diesels is that 2H is a 6 and is newer than the 4 cyl-3B. Thanks for the info.........I was actually hoping someone would give me info like, "There is really no difference, power wise, between the 3B and the 2H, however the 3B is more fuel efficient and the 2H has a higher top end" or "The 2H is such a dramatic improvement over the 3B that it's not even in the same class". Just general info. 2H's have typically had problems with ________. Thanks for any additional info. I'll be looking.

I have never owned a 2H. But I have heard they do not have piston skirt cooling, which I have heard(on here) does not lead as well to running a turbo. But many have put turbos on their 2H. See the turbo glide thread above.

In other countries they only got the 2H from the beginings on the 60, like OZ. Where canada had the 3B first.

The 3b is going to be similar power when turbo'd as a naturally aspirated 2H. Maybe a bit more.
3B should be more efficent. The 3B in a 60 naturally aspirated is deadly slow on the highway but has good torque down low.

Look at Tapages threads to see a HJ60 in action in Panama.

If you type in 3b into the search you will get more threads than you can read. So try to be more specific and add words like power, mpg, turbo, etc.....

Maybe someone nows a website to explain more differences. But I am not sure where.

Oh on the search, typing in 3B is like typing in 2f in the 60 section. It will be a million threads. So you have to add other key words.

I'd been adjusting this a little bb.

3B 90hp, 159ftlbs
2H 103hp, 177ftlbs

Add a turbo to the 3B and is would be considerably more then 103 and 177. AXT's website lists 132hp and 220ftlbs in thier sales gig.

Ya'll know my thoughts on oil skirt cooling so I won't rehash.

:D

I thought 2H and 3B to 3BII comes to market in similar years .. we got 2H until 89 as similar as 3BII.

I thought ( coz I have some info from internet sites ) 3B engine has a little less HP and Torque than 2H .. about 10 no more. 2L is a litlle less loudness and shaker . ?
