I love my TSL/SXs. I have for years. I always complained about the road manners, but they're so magical in the woods I was willing to look past that.

Anyway, on the way home from CMCC08, I was on I78 doing around 70 (according to the GPS) and yup, that'd be with a 3FE, 36" tires, and the AC on. I was pushing the skinny pretty hard. I was about 90 minutes into the ride home and the truck starts shaking violently like I have never experienced before. Scared the poop right out of me. I was able to control her and safely stopped on the shoulder. My left rear had become egg shaped and looked like 1/3 of the tread had ballooned out. It was so distorted that the tread blocks were almost gone. Pretty scary stuff. Pulled the valve core and the tire returned to normal. Swapped on my spare, checked the pressures and set my Cruise control to 55 for the rest of the way home.

Yet another reason to trailer my tires.

How are the SXs different from the SSRs Jon, do you know? How many miles did that particular SX have on it? Drove 3000 miles to and from Rubithon in a friends 4Runner with the SSRs on was amazed at how well behaved they were on the hiway and they still had the Swamper mojo on the 'con.

As far as I'm concerned,.. the SSRs are garbage and unsafe... if there are any Interco lawyers, feel free to try and sue me,.. I'll show you the stack of SSRs I have out back where the treads have separated and Interco has pulled the "we can;t control where and how you use them so we're not going to warrant them BS.

I've had two go back with a couple of hours of one another,.. where I had them on my 80 and one would go bad,.. I'd have to go buy another tire somewhere local to where I was and then another SRR would go back on the rest of the trip home.

I had smaller SSRs on my 4Runner and had one go bad,.. slapped the spare on and had another go bad.

these are all within 5-6k miles.

but apparently they have adverse effect on gas mileage ;)

I've got go cart swampers, so it may not apply, but I routinely run my 31's(LTB's front/SX's rear) at 65mph for about 4 hours on my 40. I recently ran them on my 60 for about 3 hours at 75mph. I've never had any problems.

38.5x11 bias boggers, 0-100 pick a number and i've driven these tires at that speed for atleast 3 hours straight. Sounds like old tires, under/over inflated (just not right for the road I guess), or a factory faulty belt in the tire. Take it to a tire shop, try to get something out of Interco...should be able to get a pro-rated tire if less than 10k on them.

LOL. These are the bias TSL/SX in a 36x12.50R15. They're on their 5th season. Don't know how many miles are on them as I have 2 sets of tires. FWIW, I have driven these tires on the road to and from trail rides for the last 5 years without issue. This just scared the crap out of me. I am not easy on tires but I do make a habit of checking tire pressure before any trip. More so with the swampers because they're always being aired down for the trail.

I ordered a replacement with a new rim (ouch) from my not so local shop. I know that Interco probably won't come to the party, but I had him look into it anyway.

Again, any bias ply swamper will suck wind on the road. That's not what they're made for. I wouldn't run any other tire in the northeast woods. They are magical.

I guess running 5 year old tires too fast on the road was my fault. I was pushing to get home. I'll just Cruise at 55 when they're on.

I agree with these statements. :D
