Good luck  been there done that :(

Mine went out on a road trip also few years ago, lucky for me It was right before a offramp. Started to run really rough and temp shot up all of sudden. After it cooled down i could see air bubbles after I refilled so I knew right away and had it towed back home.

Was a major PITA to fix, #6 was where my gasket failed. I spent over two weeks on/off after work and both weekends to get it done, 20hrs+ of work is what I fiqured I spent on it and I was very sore for a week after from bending over so much. One of my exhaust Valves needed extra work at the machine shop, spent ~ $400 with them plus the other parts and hoses replaced so I was in over $600 with me doing all the work.

Never know until you look at them but I bet the block is ok, the head will need some machine work for sure but you should be back in action soon I pray.

In the mean time, I've got the trailer turned upside down in the garage.

Perfect! You'll be all set for my Baja trip on Expo. May 6-9. Give that new engine some dusty desert and altitude on the same trip. I have the route all figured out and I'm going to post the details soon.

Marcus - very interested - don't have a lid on the trailer yet - still saving $$ and with the coin I've dropped on a molar implant, the truck and my daughter's move - needless to say - OUCH!!! Within a couple hundred of saving for it, but still need to purchase a couple of latches and weatherstripping to seal the lid to the trailer...not to mention the paint for the rest of the trailer.
