Anyone have plans? Weather looks to be nice, need to get the family out for a good day of fun. It will be my first trip out this year, probably to Hale as the wife and kidlets like it there, but nothing definite yet.

yap going to be exeptional. perhaps the nicest day of the year so far. i'm out though as the plan is to patch up the camper this weekend and it will be a good day for it.

I think dangil and nat are checking out the secret spot . I just got a report that the sqaumish valley is a no no because of the dock fire thats happening there . Bad creesote toxins . I know my camping plans might have to be changed.

I'm planning on heading up towards Indian Arm from Squamish on Saturday. My truck and a stockish Patrol. Hoping for a leisurely drive with a relaxed campfire lunch. Leaving New West around 9. Open invitation.

I am planning on heading up the Squamish Valley Saturday morning. Going to check out some FSRs and probably do some hiking/exploring while I am up there.

The dock fire/toxic fumes have me thinking twice, but seems the air quality is okay now up there.

Finally got out of the house and we wandered up to Hale late Saturday afternoon. There was a few people around but it was fairly quiet. After leaving Hale we took a short trip up to Sunrise, just one couple up there enjoying the sunset. Of note there is only one picnic table left standing, over near the outhouse. The remains of another one tossed over the cliff by the road up.
On the way back down I noticed the gate was open to the old Scouts site on Harrison, at about the 6km mark. The site looks to have been abandoned quite some time ago as the remaining buildings have been cleared out and things look in rough shape. There were 2 vans parked there (with current insurance), but no one around except for a lone couple camping on the beach.
That campsite is quite nice, beautiful beach and tons of room! Lots of garbage though. Does anyone know the status of it and plans for that site?
On the eastern side of the bay I was trying to figure out what it was used for. There appeared to be the remains of several old pilings in the beach, with a a rusty old wire cable coming down from the rocks above. I climbed up to have a look but it didn't seem like anything had ever been there. Buried in some soil on the cliff were a few old equipment tires and some other crap also. Camera died so no pictures unfortunately.

A customer of mine says he rents or reserves an old Boy Scout camp along Harrison. Bid enough for several families he says. Not sure if the same sight you went to. He takes his motor home so must be a fairly tame road.

Ive google earthed that bay the scouts have...looks pretty sweet....was gonna check it out in the boat this summer..either way its too close and acess too easy to make it a viable campng location away from the hoologans..

yes x2 on being to close. the cool spot used to be the nice beach at the hair pin at 13 k but that got out of hand when some doode stoode there all summer with a rifle from 2001 to about 05. LOL
