The toothed star washed has to be cut off. No way to remove them without destroying the plastic peg.

I've come to that conclusion. Now if any parts gurus happen to know the P/N for the washers that would be awesome.
The result looks very nice.

This is an old kit from a vendor that’s not around anymore. I would think the local hardware store would have something similar to that washer. I couldn’t find a part number.

I found that it's best to only remove one of the top washers, either left or right. You can then pull it back far enough to get the cord knot holder, get the knot out, pull the cord tighter and tie a new knot. No need to remove all washers.

That would certainly work. I took the whole thing off so I could clean the seat back and the net.
