seems as though the rear springs are starting to sag on the '92 (4x4)... trying to decide weather to throw some longer shackles on or new springs - i've heard arguments both ways. any suggestions on springs? Deaver seems nice but pretty expensive. i don't need big lift or heavy springs.. looks like the oem ones are still available. thoughts?

Never had rear springs last more than a few years before they started sagging. Have had about six different sets, now I just make my own packs and live with it.

Really depends on the budget. Blocks are cheapest. Add-a-leaf of some of the lame clamp-on spring assists are next. New factory leaves, then aftermarket maybe...? Or you could just lower the front end....... That's free.

Well can't lower the front, those springs hold up a 4.3L V6. I can't remember what I used the last time, it's been about seven years this time around. I do know there are some extra leaves in there, and it's not real good with a big load. But it does wheel nice and supple. No extended shackles or blocks on either axle.

Mine? 1980 swb frame with '85Xcab body grafted on with front of bed chopped to fit. Never IFS. Wife's stock '13 though...

Our old '06 Tacoma had saggy, soft rear springs in 2011 when we bought it. I took it to a local suspension/spring shop who said that they had seen many hundreds of Toyota pickups with saggy rear springs, and broken spring leaves. They removed & took apart the spring packs and rebuilt them adding an extra leaf. That one extra leaf totally changed the way the truck drove. It steered, handled, rode and cornered better. Best couple of hundred bucks we spent on that truck.
