Thought I'd pass this along FWIW:
I'm doing front knuckles and front air locker.
This idea occurred to me when I was doing the rear axle stuff.
I'm single and have no one near that would notice that I didn't come in for supper if the '40 was to fall on me. I do have 4ea. 6 ton jack stands in place under the front end, and try to have a best escape route/least incapacitating approach in mind when I'm under there. As an added safety measure, now-a-days, I take my cell phone with me every time I get under the truck. Chances are I could be totally incapacitated, but in the event I still had my wits and a free arm, I might just be able to call 911 (which I also have as a voice activation feature implemented.)
If one was really concerned, one could do like the aviation community and file a flight plan. Call a buddy and say, I'm pulling the diff.... If I don't call back in half an hour, something's amiss.
Call me a "wuss", but.....the older I get, the more I think about living a few more years. Wouldn't that be the pits ? Overhauling a cruiser and not living to see it finished ?
.... back to the shop..... Horrible Freight had their 12 ton press on sale today for $99. Gotta see where it will fit in my hobbit house shop. Probably have to throw away the lawn mower and get the neighbor's kid to cut the grass .... yeah....
I love rationalizing
