Firefox for OSX rules the world [IMO]. I've never liked Safari.

seems like I read recently on one of the Apple blogs that there are lots of bugs in S3 that have been neglected since everyones been paying attention to the iPhone. (sort of like full releases of Leopard are delayed till November b/c of the iPhone).

Do other sites give you trouble too, or just 'mud?

Since S3 is still in beta- forward your trouble to Apple so it can get fixed before the full release.

by the way, you want a beta 3 copy of Leopard to play with?

Its interesting that I have had issues with Mud ( for the past 6 months or longer)
With either 2.xx or the latest version of Safari 3 beta

On another board I frequent using BBS - vBulletin Version 3.5.4 - I have no issues with either the last VErsion of Safari 2.XX or the latest Beta Safari 3

Just wanted to see if I was alone in this thing...

I kind of felt bad for suggesting Firefox without even hearing your problem, so I just downloaded S3.0.2 and am running it as I type this... I don't see anything missing in terms of buttons or smiley faces or whatnot...

Maybe the trouble is isolated to something on your machine?

I have thought at some point it was the fact that I am using Wifi through the ABS - I have the new ABS extreme in the box and have not set it up yet.

Still, how could this be?

I have three other Macs here and will do some other re testing to see if it is somehow related to this MacBookPro

Thanks for checking this out for me on your end - I will post back in a day with my findings...

tesed a bit this morning -
Macbookpro running Safari 3 beta - no posting controls or smileys - jibberish - many refreshes - still no controls

iMac intel - safari 2.04 - some jibberish - have to refresh a few times have use of the controls

Macbook - safari 2.04 everything seems to be working

G5 quad desktop - safari 2.04 all seems to be working

it does lean towards the Macbookpro and intel iMac having difficulties

everything is Wifi through the ABS

I will test a bit more when I can

No problems here on my G4 Flat screen. :D

If you have messed with your fonts in your User Font folder on in the System Font folder that would definitely give you that gibberish display. Also if you are running a 3rd party font utility that could be the culprit too. That version may not be compatibly with the present version of OSX you're running.

Does Firefox do the same thing? . . . . . . . . If it does, it's you OS not Safari.

Are you running a 3rd party font utility on your Mac? Also how much ram is in your Mac?

Also Check your Preferences for Safari

All Web Content should be checked

Pasquale,

I'm running the Safari Beta and I have no issues.
It could be your setup.

Regards

Alvaro

no third party font app
(I do have a few additional fonts added)

2 gigs in the MBP

2 gigs in the intel iMac

8 gigs in the G5 quad

Safari's default settings (java enabled)

default encoding Western (ISO Latin 1)

Its totally odd to me that it is just this vBulletin site and no use of tools.

I will dig up some goggle info and see what I can find (add light bulb smiley here)

It is something you should learn to live without smiley to the nature of Safari's.
