I sprayed the bedliner and most of it didn't stick. I had to scrape quite a bit of it off and respray. Also wanted to work on the springs but I can't get the truck high enough to drop the axle. Needless to say that it was not my night.

It might not be your night, but it looks awesome! What color are you going to paint the sombrero on the hood?

I can't deny that it looks good from 10 steps back. Up close is a different story. Oh well, the sound of it alone makes up for cosmetic flaws.

The Sombrero will be blue on black. Same design as last time but a little smaller since the scoop cut the horns off of the last one.

Just have to wait until these are dry enough to tape off. Then spray the black. When the black dries, the doors and cowl can be installed. The hood has to wait for the horny yota.

I'm almost there. Just have to make a stencil for the hood graphic, then wait a good time to get it on. It looks like a bomb went off in my shop, so I may get this stuff on the truck tomorrow and work on getting things straightened up so I can start on the next project.

It's gonna snow today so I slapped those doors back on. The hood is still pretty tacky, so I'm going to let it sit for another day or two before I attempt to do anything else with it.

My bearings and brakes should be here tomorrow. I also need to tap a caliper and put license plates on it. Then, I just have to rebuild the front springs, build new front shock mounts, put new shocks on the rear, and fix a leaking intake pipe.

I'm good as long as I have time able to break in the gears before the local Toys for Tots ride on December 7th.

I have to go to Minneapolis on Thursday and won't be back until Sunday night. So, I decided to go ahead and put the hood and cowl on. I can do the graphic later.

I also received some packages from RockAuto today. Inside were, more wheel bearings, the races I was missing, wheel seals, FJ60 vented rotors, 94 4Runner brake pads, 85 4Runner brake pads, and a new brake bleeder to replace one that I stripped.

Last week I received two new lock tab washers for the spindles. The knuckle with the bad bearings and loose nuts happened because the key sheered off of the washer. I'm pretty sure I know why I had issues with that knuckle, but it's too late to change now.

Here's how she sits until I get back from my trip and have some warm weather.

I finished the bearings and vented rotors last night and drove it to work today. All I could hear was the turbo, no gear growl or helicopters and the ride seemed smoother as well.

As for the front bearings that were loose, I found a lot of rusty, gritty grease on the spindle. I thoroughly cleaned both hubs and the new bearings are nice and smooth. I did end up breaking one of the old rotors in the press, she just didn't seem to want to let go!

It seemed like I was running about 3k rpms all the way to work this morning. I'm just going to have to keep it under 65 and take my time getting places. I am also running way too much boost, so I may be looking at making a homemade boost controller in the near future.

I chose Akuma at one point in time, but it never really stuck. Bruiser sounds like a buggy name.

Ahh! Where's sixth gear? 5.29's are too low for 35's!

I drove her for a few hours today. I was kind of worried that this was too far since I have only put about 120 miles on the new gears. After about 30 miles on the interstate after already driving on the backroads for a bit, I hit the rear diff with a temp gun and it was only 90*. This is much better than the 185* that I rear after the first short trip. I think I'm past the point of having to worry about heat. Now I just have to put another 200 miles or so and change the oil and call it good.

Brakes are amazing and I haven't even put the new pads on the rear yet. Having the right rotor really helps!

I'm out with the family tomorrow, interview on Monday, and coming up from GA Tuesday-Friday. So next weekend I hope to change the springs and work on shocks. I'm hoping that this will eliminate some of the diving issues I having when putting the brakes on as well as level out the truck. I've always had front sag with these springs but the diesel and the winch have really brought the pain.

I'm also having a weird rumble when I go around curves, but only those that turn right. It almost seems like wheel hop on the right side, like thumping near the firewall or something. When it started, I thought that maybe it was knuckly bearing play. However, all of the bearings have been replaced now and this has not changed. I'm hoping that the new springs and shocks will fix this. It is not bad, but worries me because I don't know what it is. I may look at alignment, although I think that would cause an issue on both sides, not just the right.

Maybe its the tire lugs hitting the springs during tight turns.

Nah, not turning that hard when it happens. I'll see how it reacts after the suspension change and go from there.
