Rusty Split Rims - anygood?

After beating on the tires with a BFG for several days I went to my local tire place and had them break the beads. They had a hard time doing it. I think the tires have been on these rims for a couple of decades.

I have been working each evening for a short time and now have the tires and tubes off the rims. It's not a pretty sight.

There is a lot of rust on the rings, at least one of them is very deteriorated. Can I reuse these after a sand blast and paint? You can see the closet ring has the most damage.

The rims are likely ok but the rings are rubbish. I tossed a couple dozen brand new ones when we closed the Gopher Hole. Call Ens and see if they are still getting HZJ79s with splits. They likely have a whole bin of rings.

Well I'm SOL at Ens. The new LC's come with 5 hole 1 piece rims. They do have a rim available for an older PJ75 for $186 each, that may work. I don't like the price though.

He said that they have no old split take-offs laying around.

Toyota finally stopped sending splits over, eh? Ens must have scrapped thousands of them.

It's a long way to ship but these look ok.

Ryan at Hilltop may have some if he hasn't scrapped them. I know his rep with some members of the club is, shall we say.... less than perfect, but I've had no issues in our dealings. I got a set of five 15" rims off him for nothing cuz he had them in a big pile he was scrapping the next day. I wanted them for the hubcap clips.

Yeah but they are 15" splits. Very rare. Came from a JDM BJ41

Your rims are fine. Sand blast them and they will clean up just fine. Mine were the same and then I blasted them and painted them.

Your rings are shot and you should not use them at all.
