I have a '97 with a modified CX Racing turbo set up. It doesn't have an aftermarket ECU, just stock.
It was running fine and the Air/fuel mixture was correct, until it wasn't....after a trip to the hardware store one afternoon, it began acting up. At one point, the oil was blowing out of the dipstick because I didn't have the correct CCV valve, and there was a fuel leak at the fuel pressure gauge, so from those events, oil/gas did saturate the engine compartment, which may have degraded the spark plug wires and more...?
All of a sudden, it was lacking power to accelerate. It's running very lean now, especially under load.
-It's misfiring on Cylinder 1 more than the others
-the coolant sensor is reading normal, around 185 , then it drops to -38
-the intake air temp sensor is reading normal around 80, then it drops to -38
It's basically undriveable, because it's so lean. You can slowly press the accelerator pedal and it stays in an acceptable air fuel mix up to 1500 rpm, but above that and it gets super lean very quickly...up to 22-23 on the afr gauge.
I've checked all the boots on the intercooler/intake piping. They're tight and uncompromised.
It was suggested to change out the spark plug wires, dist. cap, rotor, and plugs to begin with, because of the potential oil damage.
Can you give me any more ideas?
