The lower gate on my truck is a rusted POS. I’ve got a donor gate. It’s got an access point that’s not on my current tg. Everything else is exactly the same.

is the donor gate from a 62 (mine is a 62)?

my rust bucket (pic 1), and the donor (pic 2)...

Inner apron and inner lower lift gate painted, primed, rust “proofed” and treated with the first coat of KBS (similar, but more highly recommended to me than POR 15 by local classic car/truck restorers). Like POR 15 it’s not UV stable. So, I’ve been sanding it, cleaning and degreasing before applying the Monstaliner. The latter been adhering excellently to the KBS.

Now, if only the weather would cut me some slack.., raining yet again :bang:

My first real attempt at welding (DS fender). It’s far from perfect, but it feels strong (and I got good penetration through the back of the panels). Used some filler to clean it up and smooth it out.

Purely for personal aesthetics reasons.

@TRAIL TAILOR did something like this to the hood of his Gossamer build. It turned out beautifully and his build influenced my paint scheme.

I want the “dirt bag”/“desert sand” combo on the hood to tie the upper portion of the body (above the body line which will be painted in “desert sand”) with the lower body (below the body line/“dirt bag”).

It was a late night in Bourbon country... I hope the above makes sense.

There she is. What a well done truck! Thank you for posting up that pic.

I like it also, just hadn’t seen that before!
continue on with the good work
Thank you! I’ll be posting up more pics later next week as I start to Monstaline panels that are off the truck. I need to get my glass pulled and sort out any hidden rust that’s likely hiding under my gaskets before I crack open my gallons of Monstaliner. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad.

A member of my local Land Cruiser Association recommended a great glass guy to me. Came to my place last night and got all of my glass out with gaskets and trim intact I bought all new gaskets, but he told me the ones installed on my truck were still in very good shape (guess I'll save them for the future). The best news... there was no rust under any of my gaskets. All of the openings looked almost pristine. Glass dude was blown away, and so was I.

If the weather here ever gives me a break, I'm going to sand, and then prep all of the openings before applying Monstaliner.

Will post up pics when the weather clears.

A few pics. Windows out/doors off! Got a bunch of work done at the tail end of last week, Saturday and today.

Last bit of welding that needed to be done on the p/s front end, behind where the bumper fits... added a little filler the topped with KBS.

Next, I’ve got to cut out the rust in the rockers and quarters and weld in new metal.

anyway, here’s what she looks like... not pretty!

All of the above is going on in my farm driveway; battling mice

Also, just want to thank @TRAIL TAILOR for hooking me up with a new front bumper. Man am I stoked to put it on my truck!

Why buy an ARB when one of our own members/vendors makes this beauty?!

Gets some cats bro
Man, that would be the sensible thing to do, but I’ve got a feisty Great Pyrenees and a bunch of chickens in the mix...

Took the cowards way out and set some traps this evening :p

You just need the right cats. It might take a few but the good hunters know how to keep themselves safe.. we have 2 that are cold blooded killers and have avoided dogs, coyotes, coons, etc. for years.

Well, it might be worth a roll of the dice. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get a stone cold killer on my first try! If my truck won’t start (due to nibbled wiring), I’m not going to be happy.

Got some time to cut out a rust spot and weld in new metal.

still a little tentative and my welds aren’t pretty, but it’s coming together... slowly.

I’m not seeing the rust that the title of the thread boasts about….
