Now Dan, you know that John's hundy can tackle any of the trails in AZ, which would embarass a 40, 80 or a Jeep (the L shocks do it), but is too big to tackle the Rubicon. He has been called out numerous times to put up or shut up and he backs out everytime.:D

Jack

I think Ive missed a thread somewhere!?

Good pics! I don't know what you were sweat'n about Keith?! The terrain doesn't look that tough...I'll bet Shotts could have easily done it in his hundy :D.

I DONT KNOW either...after looking at the pics, it doesnt look any harder than Deer Valley or Strawberry...
I was just PSYCHIN myself out the whole time!
Pictures NEVER LIE!

Fordyce is a less know trail it must be easier right?

He could join us for that run.

If you guys got Alai through in his Rover we could get John through in his Hundy. :grinpimp:

It's harder than Deer valley, and there are a lot more obstacles, with less trail in between.
Plus you can make it a lot harder. Remember the diffence between the line Bret took when we got to Buck Island and the one I took?

Sorry Kieth, you have to hang out in the 80 and 100 sections to get those jokes. John/Shotscruiser is the god of 100's and everything else is crap, just ask him:D

Yeah...

Darcie and I just voted that we want no part of dragging anything like that through Fordyce. I'm not sure if Ali told you or not just how much that sucked, but if he didn't...IT SUCKED!!!!

Jack

Yeah...I was being sarcastic!
I was more referring to the notion that the photos LOOK decieving and make it appear as it wasnt all that hard.

Its weird how the photos NEVER do any justice to the actual terrain!

Its a TOUGH trail, one that deserves a GREAT DEAL of caution especially by those of limited experience...LIKE ME!

Ali said that my rig would make it thorugh there NO PROBLEM!!!:D
I think Id like to make it through Rubicon a few times COMFORTABLY CONTROLLED and without a spot every few feet before I even think about any harder trails!
If Fordice is harder than Rubicon...Im out for driving for a LOOOONG TIME!
Ill ride passenger with Dan...HINT....HINT...HINT!:D

The difference is that when we dragged Ali's Rover through Fordyce, he was sitting on 31" tall tires. Now where near enough clearance.

You wouldn't have a problem on Fordyce. The biggest difference is that the hard obstacles are "uphill." There are larger portions of the trail that are relatively easy, or course the river crossings make it more interesting.

I am all over the next trip that heads over that trail. Darcie and I really miss that one.

I wish they were THAT big...I had 245 75 16s which equate to somewhere near an optimistic 30". Let's see, I drove down to Reno from WA, wheeled Fordyce, dropped off the wife at the airport, then headed back to WA for work. Winch was my friend on that trail I tell you what.

Chicago should have no problem making it through Fordyce trail. Furthermore, spotting is a requirement for these types of trails and has nothing to do with whether you're a good driver or not. Unless of course, you're driving a buggy and no body damage to worry about :D

Inverness is all over the Fordyce trail and I may just have to fly in for that one....again!!!

I felt like such a weenie getting spotted through what seemed to be EVERYTHING!
Everyone did great on the trail, but some just had better intuition (so to speak) than others!
Experience is the key im finding!
Not to say the rig build isnt important, but IMO, the ability to look ahead and pick the lines that will work for your set up...priceless!
Unfortunately....you cant make or BUY that kind of thing, so in the mean time, you feel like a weenie and get spotted through and then take the credit for making it!!!!:bounce::bounce2::D:D

Thank God there were great spotters!:o
