Looking for some feedback on the following:

Waterproofing - I have a Mare RTT from Venezuela and its been a great RTT but it is getting to be several years old. Do I need to re-apply some kind of waterproofing to the outer fabric? The roof itself does not need anything because it’s a rubber membrane of some sort but the sides are some type of canvas. It has never gotten wet inside but I don’t want to find out at the wrong time I should of done some type of maintenance.

Repair – I have two of these little holes 1/8” (see picture) and I don’t know how to go about repairing them. Any suggestion or experience?

i wonder if there is a patch kit available...
using nylon squares and a type of cement....

There is...

I used it on my 4 season mountaineering tent, term-a-rest and has yet to fail on me...

Here are the links...

GORE-TEX Fabric Repair Kit

Seam Grip

Seam Grip Repair Kit - 1/4 oz

On small pin size holes I use the seam grip alone and let it sit for a few days before using it...

I have even used it to seal a tiny hole on one of my camel bags..

Good luck and hope this helps..

Why dont you buy a new one?
I dont think it will work well after repair.
I can introduce high quality roof top tent to you.

Buy a new one...let me think about it:hhmm:....................NO

What do you know about Mare RTT? What tent would you consider of higher quality? I use a couple other RTT and I think the Mare is just fine. Lightest in its class, no flapping in the wind, excellent cover, and uses no wood anywhere, whats not to like?

Thanks I think you nailed the hole repair:clap: The Gore-Tex fabric repair sounds like the ticket and it has great reviews. I believe the hole exists because the fabric is tight in that area and a little extra backing will help reinforce the area. I remember the iron on patches when I was a kid, very durable.

No prob...
I would but the patch on the inside of the tent and use some Seam grip on the outside.. a few drops should do the trick. That stuff is awesome...!!

Good advice Thanks!

If you want a good seam sealer, do ityourself and it is cheap....

Best I have ever used...All you need is a tube of quality RTV silicone sealer (clear) and mix it with enough MEK or acetone to thin it out so it is brushable. Take a cheap brush, and brush it on the seams. It leaves evidence you have done it but it will not leak.
