Anyone know?
My truck is dead in front of my house.
Gotta get this thing out, rebuilt and reinstalled ASAP.

I'm a 1/2:banana:mechanic. I have swapped out a few starters in my day, but this one is a strange looking beast.

Thanks again.

disconect batt, discontect the positive from the starter, the signal plug and 2 bolts IIRC .. the only thing that I hate it's doing from under the Cruiser .. ( 80 series scenario )

Thank you, Tapage.

Yes, it is an 80 series.

The two bolts are pretty skinny...look like 10mm or less correct?

On the top of the face of the unit.

I feel like a bit of a dolt here, but there are quite a few bolts and screws visible on this thing, and a couple of places where it looks like a bolt could be hidden.

No John, its a 12 volt.

I wasn't able to work on it today after all. I did have the bright idea of doing an image searrch on the starter and having seen some pics, I'm pretty confident I can get it out tomorrow.

Yeah, it is a transplant.

I did not do it myself, obviously... LOL

Formerly an FJ80, now has the 1HZ and R151 tranny.

Been driving it almost a year, and I quite like it.

I finally got the starter out, BTW.

It was easier once I knew where the bolts i needed to remove were, but a couple of them were on really tight, and the third was not so tight, but hard to get at.

I'll drop it off today to be rebuilt, and hopefully it will be reinstalled and running again by the week's end.
