This will likely be the last chance Rui has to get his 40 out before he heads out so this is a bit of a send off run as well. Time is tight for him so exploring the Round Mountain area seems like a good idea as there will be different areas people can leave from if they want to take off early. Let's have an 8:00 meet and 8:30 depart, normal spot.

Let's have a good showing of the HAM radio guys as well, we can test different repeaters and simplex frequencies. Just talked to Luke and Chuck tonight up in Divide, I was in the Springs. Linked repeaters rock!:grinpimp:

Ok, I need a little help from a moderator to fix the date in the header. It should read 5/15.

Round mountain area just past Lake george on Hwy 24.

I know it's late notice but let's get a group together. By the way Rui said it is a bit weather dependent since he will only have his bikini top on.

eeewww now I have to try and get that image out of my head.

Hey, It could be worse...imagine Luke with a bikini top on!?!?! :flipoff2:

I don't wear a bikini... I just wear pasties to cover my nipples :D

Oh no, where is that vomit smiley when you need it...

The weather looks dicey, but let's go for it...you never know around here..

No, not still out there, we made it back fine but it started out bad. I got a call from Rui when Neil and I were half way up to Woodland Park, his heater kept blowing fuses so he had to pass. Remeber he was planning to do this in a bikini top  So it was just Luke and us, luckily Luke didn't show up in his special attire:eek::eek:. We went to his house, he showed us the 40, looks Very Nice. In fact it is now a :princess: since he had just washed the mud off it and didn't want to get it dirty, No Lie, his words.

So he took his red truck and we explored around Round Mountain. The rain was light and really didn't last long once we hit the trail. I got another Luke rescue under my belt (3 or 4 now) had to pull him off rock he got stuck on. We stopped near the top to take in the scenery and get all HAM radio geeky trying different repeaters, power levels and antennas. In fact we got so into it I didn't realize my German Shepherd had wandered off. Luckily she came back after about 5 minutes of calling. Clouds went away shortly afternoon and it was a nice day even though we hit a lot of closed spur roads.

Snitch ;)

Claire and I spent some time cleaning up the 40 after Chuck, Justin, and I went on a snow run Wednesday night. The FJ came back a brownish-red covering that was not very appealing. We're taking it today on a field trip to the zoo with Claire's school, wanted it to at least be respectable. The cruiser has a tendency to backfire when you shut it off, going to be funny watching everyone hit the deck.

It was fun getting out in the red pickup anyway. Nice to have some power and agility, it's like driving a car compared to driving an FJ40. We spent a lot of time with the radios, looking through the repeater directory trying to see which far away repeaters you can hit with various antennas. It's really amazing what you can do with 5 watts on a handheld. I am pretty sure we were opening the Breckenridge repeater, even though we could hear nothing but static coming back. Very easy to get out to Woodland Park, and even Pikes Peak repeater. Got to talk to some guys from MARC club in Florissant again, they're having their meetings at the Fiesta mexican restaraunt here in WP on the third Wednesday night of the month, I might show up this week and introduce myself.

I'm off, thanks for the tug off the rocks Leon (again ) Maybe sometime I will get to repay the favor.
