as to the Aloha racks, when I worked for Val Surf, we stocked them (2 years ago), they probably still do- IIRC $60-70, but they never sold that many so it was typically 1-2 at a time (Yakima always sold better).

Nice story, Peter, on how you were seduced by the Cruiser fetish... Alas, mine does not go so far back- I had flirted with cruisers over the last 20 years, the way a man might covet a woman he thinks is too good for him, but at last I finally reached out and grabbed her, and now I'll never let go.

Can't tell you how many times I filled up at that gas station (thrifty gas) on Sawtelle and Venice (lived on Pico and 3rd for 13 yrs), now closed to make way for a mini mall.

And what's that big horn on the passenger fender for? An alarm that yells: "YOU ARE TOO CLOSE - STEP AWAY FROM THE DYNOSOAR!"
