BTW: My first ride was a '63 Squareback. I still have a 'thing' for VW's.

Nice ;)

I'm currently trying to get my neighbor's '69 EFI Fastback running again....bad fuel pump  First car of it's type I've ever seen, AND I get to work on it :D

VWs and Cruisers... How can you go wrong?!? However, I will take my 80 with a 1FZ and my VW water-cooled. :flipoff2:

Seriously, tho. Looks like you are doing a great job with your 80.

:flipoff2:

The only problem my VW gave me was a constant no-start issue.
Just gave the ignition stuff a good whack and it was up and running again  though the issue turned out to be a bad set of points. New points and now it works like a charm. The heater worked great, too. My buddy and I would go cruising down State street, snowing, with the windows down. It was awesome.

Ideas/plans/general wishing for the future, in no particular order-

  • Rockwell 2.5 tons

I can't wait for this part!

One can dream.
I will dream about it with 47s or 49s.
Drive on top of the snow like Icelanders.

Get a real bumper! lol Nice write up.

Reminds me of my 3FE. Family truck from '91 on.

Yours is lookin good. Any more specs on your speaker setup? The units I bought ended up being way too deep.

Thanks again, Scott. I've hit a stop sign with it, all that remains is a white smear of paint from the pole :D

I'm gonna be modifying it in a little while... Hoops and stuff.

For the front speakers, I had to use a small spacer ring. I'd love to tell you what model I used, but it's been so long I can't remember...

I used Pioneer TSG1041R speakers in the rear and installed them the same way as another member.

The amp is a Boss Audio BL1600 4-channel. People tend to think low of Boss Audio, but this amp will hold it's own very well. 180W RMS at each channel, with adjustable High-Pass and Low-Pass filters. I used the RCA outputs on the headunit to the RCA inputs on the amp.

Great. Now she'll suck even more of your money down the drain.

You know, when I first joined 'Mud, I used to laugh when I saw you guys posting about this being an addiction...

Yet, over three years later, I'm still here... :o

hey man im looking in to a lift but im trying to build it peice by peice (money:/). This says that you have about 4 inches and no caster correction how is that working for you? does it really make and difference?

I'd recommend using some sort of caster correction. Steering gets jerky on bumpy roads.

Yeah, stock panhard and control arms. No binding.
