Looking for some input on a noise issue with my 2002 LX470. I’ve been hearing a rotational clicking or creaking sound coming from the rear right wheel area. The noise matches wheel speed, and when I jack up the truck and spin the tire by hand, it completely goes away. Nothing’s visibly rubbing or hitting, and there’s no debris in the tread.
I pulled the wheel off to inspect and didn’t see anything obvious, backing plate looks fine, brake hardware tight, nothing loose. After putting the wheel back on, the noise disappeared for a bit but came back later with a slightly different rhythm. Wheel seems to be sitting flush and visually is rotating straight, so I don’t think it’s an issue with it seating properly. Yes I know I’m missing a lug in this video, issue arose before this and now have all 5 lugs and still having issue.
It’s not a harsh metal sound, just a light click or creak when the wheels rotating. Brakes feel normal and the truck drives fine otherwise. Anyone run into something like this before?
Thinking possibly axle related, appreciate any thoughts before I start throwing parts at it.
