Anyone ever put one on their trailer? I see quick-and-easy makes some towers, but they won't work for what I need. The top of my trailer is curved, and the rack needs to be flat, so a custom rack/towers are neccessary. Wondering what to look out for, and looking for ideas.
Thanks.

been wondering myself how strong these tops are and what could be put on there...

I've seen people mount yakima bars on the tops of their pop-ups.

don't know about the strength of the tops though...but given the fact that you commonly see AC units bolted to the top, I'm sure it could hold a decent amount of weight.

This will be a winter project. I'll post pics before spring. I'm thinking quick and easy style towers, but out of stainless steel.

I built one out of cedar for our vacation this summer. 2X4 with foam stapled to the underside against the roof, 4X4 stringers across the roof. Did the job dragging four kayaks around. We removed the two heaviest kayaks before popping the top.

The only thing that has stopped me from doing a rack is the inevitability of leaks.
If i did it I would through bolt flat plates on the sides of the top section that would support the stretchers. I'd lean towards round bars which would be easy to source and use the same diameter as Yakima racks. If necessary I would make a couple of blocks from plastic with wide bases to support the span.

Mine has some sort of dealer installed Yakima type round bars siting triangle shaped mounting feet. Sorry no pic on my iPad to share. But I've carried enough weight in canoes/bikes/firewood to make the load bars flex without worry of the camper.

Sun is up, added a pic.
