Roof rack installed, finally.

Hello everyone, I thought I'd share my build so far.

I've finally completed my install of the roof rack by Dissent. Approximately 147 hours of my blood sweat and tears (literally) went into the assembly, wiring, and install all of the components and about 2 hours of "Where the @#$% is that 10mm socket got to??!"

There was definitely more that one moment of pure panic in where I did not believe I could finish this or that I had thought I was in over my head. But I kept cool and focused on one part at a time and somehow, I didn't electrocute myself, and pleased that it is complete but there are a few details I am not happy about. I'll address those at a later date.

Still waiting on my rack and lights, gives me more time to map everything out. Your setup looks great! That must be a bundle of wires to run though. Were you able to consolidate in a harness on the roof? Did you have to run down both sides of the windshield? Baja hide or something else?

I fabricated an aluminum bracket that comes up and wraps around the dash. It is mounted to the plastic on the lower part of the dash, I did NOT want to drill any holes into any of the soft touch parts on the dash, so the upper part is secured with some cheesy two sided tape to keep it from shaking and/or vibrating.

I haven't noticed any odd sounds or extra wind noise so far with the roof rack, however airflow is reduced when you tip up or open the moonroof. There is a crossbar right over top of the moonroof.

Thank you!, I am very pleased and at the same time, quite surprised I managed to finish this.

Plan and map everything out as much as possible. That is the best thing.

I had a diagram and I still got a few things wrong (length of wires, positioning)

With the controller that I have, All the lighting has individual separate wiring that goes to the control box (front, rear, light bar/roof lights, side lights, amber side lights) I had to run wires down both sides of the windshield because the runner was smaller than I anticipated and halfway through the build, I decided to go with thicker wiring. 14 gauge for the main lights, 16 gauge for the sides and for the front and rear.

The main light is not Baja, it's something I discovered on Amazon and they're amazing lights for the price, sides are Rigid and front and rear are Amazon.
