I did numerous searches and really couldn't find what I'm looking for. I had an ARB clone made and I need six hardcore, cheap rain gutter clamps. I have had no luck on ebay and I really don't want to pay $or's extreme prices. Any one know where I can score some cheap clamps? Thanks in advance, landcruiserjunky

I saw a tread on quick and easy, how hardcore are they? Would they rub my paint off in caser of vibration

They have a rubber piece over the clamp mechanism. Just think of a peice of innertube glued on to the clamping lips. I have driven mine and wheeled mine with no load and loaded like crazy. No problems.

I've been into Stawberry Lake, Coyoty Lake and Mirror Lake several times. Bald Mountain runs are no big thing.

Does anyone have any experience with the "Rails" that go with the ARB clamps? The diagram makes them look like a secondary gutter rail, sort of like an extruded piece of channel. I believe their only purpose is to protect the paint on the factory gutter but they may also add some rigidity.

I have the ARB clamps and I'm going to make myself a simple low profile boat rack but I'm debating doing it without those "rails".

I had (and replaced) the rails on my ARB rack. They are billed as load distributing, but they don't. They're very thin and flimsy. Not sure what purpose they serve.

The one thing they did do was rust and quickly (hence the replacement). When I called ARB even they knew about it, dissimilar metals reaction it seems.

I just went through this myself, here is what I dug up. Quick n easy still makes the 6" (actually 7 3/8") clamps. IMO, these sit ridiculously high on a 60 or an 80. They do not and are not going to produce the 4" versions anymore, as the sand casting process to make them is too expensive. This info is coming from Ralph at quick n easy. He also told me the 4" ones that Specter off road sells, are indeed old quick n easy stock.
6" here: http://www.altrec.com/shop/detail/4386/?sch=clk
4" here: www. sor.com search for roof rack mount

I scored some of the 4" ones off a forum member, so I got lucky. From my research though, the Yakima 1A rain gutter mounts seem to be highly though of. I am not sure how high they stick up though. You can get these on ebay or craigslist dirt cheap too.

I have both the 6" and 4" Q-N-E clamps. They are very rugged, cast aluimnum with rubberized feet. Great for making your own rack and I think much better than steel. The 6" clamps are indeed way too tall for a 60 roof. The 4" clamps fit just over the roof line, keeping the load nice and low. Too bad they don't make the short ones anymore cause SOR charges way too much for them.

look for quick-n-easy or quick and easy rain gutter clamps.
you'll find something similar at www.nrsweb.com -- search for clamps.

the con-ferr clamps are also listed as bulldog or bull dog clamps...but when searching include rain gutter or roof rack to avoid getting surgical clamps (also called bulldog clamps).

NRS is a top whitewater shop. Great reputation in the WW community. Great customer service. They'll even call you up if a defect in your gear shows up. Anything they sell has been well tested. I wish I had more free money to buy more of their gear. ty

quick-n-easy are like 70 bucks for 4. good price. I bought a set for my car to make a rack. A bit all though. I am going to use 4 per side on my cruiser rack.
