Looking for a roof for my 73 :pig: and I am having some luck!!! But now the question is coming up whether or not the later models will line up properly. :bang:

It certainly would be a bit of a drag to cut the old roof off of mine and find that the "new" replacement from a '79 no do workie.

Anyone got any ideas/experience re this issue???

Thanks and

Like Brett says, I think the front doors are the only real potential issue. When I swapped roofs on my resto they were only a year or two apart.

Well, I DO have some experience taking roofs off of Pigs...but I've never put a roof back onto a Pig.
And the door angle/A pillar angle did change there in '77.
But, if your current roof isn't too bad at the front, maybe you could save that portion and graft on the new roof behind it. Probably only need the first few inches behind the A pillar to preserve the door fit. Or get the '77+ doors with the roof.

Hmm real question

Okay the real question are 40s and 55s the same width? As in could it be possible to graft a 40 rear panel onto a 55 to enclose a chopped pig?

make sure you get hte front doors too. the later(post 9/'77 IIRC) are rounded at the top front corner and the roof line is according rounded too.

Good to know. It's going to be a tough call since my doors are really good. One pencil eraser size bubble on the drivers side and that's it. Plus then I gotta FIND doors.

I have to weigh all options cause the pig, she does needs a roof. And the pillars are the WORST in front. We've got to do the whole thing and cut it as far down as possible. And I do want to keep it all stock. I'll save the mod in my next lifetime.

I remember Marv at Specter telling how he was towing some beat up 55 on the freeway and the roof was so rusted it just flew off. Mine's not nearly as bad and I laughed too, but now I think of that story every time I get on the freeway.
