This setup looks great! Have any in-progress pics of the rockers?

No, 3 reasons, I'm an idiot and forgot, I didnt want to Jinx it, and my metal working skills are weak which I didnt want to call attention to.

But it was pretty simple, just hard work.
Some of the welds are ugly.

The sliders are just the tube cut at an angle on the ends to match the line of the fender.

I used a piece of scrap and a cutoff wheel to make the end caps.

The extensions are the same stock tube.

To get the measure from slider to frame, I put them on jack stands and lined up then measured.

The part with the painters tape below is a piece of 1/4" plate. It made it easier for me to weld under the truck. It also kept me from having to weld vertical on the frame, which I have heard is bad.

The pic below shows the plate welded to the frame.
It was nice to see all that raw steel on the frame after cuttig away at the rockers.

Thanks for the comments

your rig looks great. my question is, aren't you compromising the structural integrity of the b-pillar by cutting most of the rocker section off?

Here is a pic after chop/ before install.
The longest piece in the middle is the bottom of the pillar, I think.
A cross member mates into it from behind.
I did not need to cut them, so i didnt.

that is just what i need to do to my rig ,to calm the rusty lace curtains hanging under my truck i like what you have done .
i work in a fab shop and see crappy welds from guys who have been welding for years don't be ashamed of it post it as long as you have good penetration your set when guys focus on that they probably spend too much time staring at the picture out of jealousy saying why didn't i do that ??
nice job keep it up and have fun !!

I realize this is an old thread, but is it possible to see the photos?

Bumping….

Here is what my drivers side looks like, so obviously it is time to stare down the barrel of a rock or chop

Since it is a bush rig, I don’t mind doing it

My passenger side looks completely fine

Do I simply chop away the area that is rusted, and continue down to where the rocker stops at the fender?

When I look up into the rusted area, it is completely clean up there where the body meets the rocker.

Do you intend to put sliders on it?

Chop from the outermost edge of the rocker below the door on a flat plane towards the frame. That's what I did, never capped it, but have sliders directly below.

As per the usual with metal cutting, I'm going to pace around the truck an hour before I actually cut. But I know that it will be bad ass once I do it....
