Freshly powder coated and ready for install. I ended up going dark grey for both the wheel and the headlock rings....cant wait to install them.

So they are dark gray to begin with so were yours faded or scratched? Beadlocks look good.

Don't forget to remove the trim rings before mounting the tires.

They look really good, make sure you post the installed pics

I can only refer you to page 5 of the .pdf I linked to above:

I'll be the first to admit I do not adhere to EVERY recommendation from Toyota, but this one was "STOP" and "IMPORTANT" so they probably have their reasons.

My best guess as to the rationale behind this recommendation is because the presence of the "wheel lock ring" during mounting could interfere with the seating of the bead or the inspection of the seated bead. The ring might also interfere with the removal/replacement/installation of the valve stem or TPMS. Also, the ring could be damaged by the mounting equipment.

I also found of particular note in that .pdf the recommendation for the use of BOTH stick-on wheel weights and crimp-on wheel weights (page 6).

For sure this is a good example of "if you don't do it, you're probably OK," but if it were me, I'd do it just to be on the safe side.

I've done both. Removed and reinstalled tires with the rings on and with the rings off. One lesson I did learn, if you remove the rings, use some blue locktite when you reinstall the torx screws. I didn't the first time and lost a few before I realized they were vibrating out.

What's odd about their recommendation is that they refer to them as "wheel locks" at all...since they are not bead locks. Their only function beyond protecting the wheel is they protect the valve stem...but they don't do anything at all to the tire, and they don't have any effect on the bead. Strange...

Someone mentioned locktite... Ya, that must be needed because about 1/3rd the RW wheels I see on Craigslist say one or two ring screws are missing. ;)

When I put my RW "beauty" rings on, I chased the threads with a tap, cleaned the bolt threads, and used blue loctite. The loctite also has the added benefit of resisting corrosion between the bolt and rim. I had one hell of a time getting several of the bolts out to remove the rings, broke an impact torx bit, and twisted a few more.

installed- my 200 doesn't have a lift yet but these look pretty good in stock form. sorry for the cell phone pics....I might try to get some better quality photos later.

I'm still running the old style LT285/70-17 KO's - not the KO2's - and they have a "rim protector" that comes up to the level of the trim ring on the RW's:

Has this changed (been eliminated) on the KO2's? I don't see this rim protector in your pics :hmm:

My 285/70/17 KO2's come up to the base of the ring, but not to the top surface of the ring.

the new ko2's don't have the rim protector like the original.....which does make it WAY easier to remove and install the rings if the need ever arrises.
