Hey Guys, I have 4 Rock Warriors with rings and the small bolts that hold the ring on. I bought another RW rim but w/o the ring or little bolts.

Do you all with RWs run a ring on your spare?
Does anyone have an extra ring/bolts who has deleted the rings and went with a powdercoat? Or an extra center cap?
Any reason to get the TRD Lugnuts vs. whatever generic lugnuts might fit?

Thanks

I have the rings in a box in the barn somewhere. I don't use them. Just a couple of unsprung pounds per wheel. I suspect they wanted them to emulate bead locks. They are not.

I don't personally run them. Key facts: they are 2 pounds each, they do protect the outer edge of the wheel and tire and add a bit of stiffness (good if you ever jump your truck). There is a known corrosion issue after even just a few thousand miles. See here: are the rock warrior wheels prone to the normal corrosion - TundraTalk.net - Toyota Tundra Discussion Forum It seems most on here run them, though. It's really not that big of a deal and mainly a cosmetic issue; had I bought used wheels I might just run them. I would seal the rings with anti-seize compound, silicone, plastidip etc to try to keep the dirt out - but as I bought new wheels recently I decided to skip them.

This guy is not a fan:

Goodbye Bling Rings

LOL.

Honestly, though, if someone who has them decides to take them off, you can dip them the color you want and cover the corrosion.

I am not a huge fan of the bling rings, and in fact, the previous owner had plastidipped them flat black, but I figured I would start out with the rings before deleting them and having to fill all of the screw holes. Also, I have seen a couple rw rims and the chrome rings actually look pretty good on a silver 200 which is the color i ended up with.

If you take it off road- you will appreciate those rings. They actually protect the wheels from rocks- thus the name- rock warriors. If you plastic dip them, it looks pretty cool too.

If a mall cruiser - then whatever.

There is a certain amount of honor in rock bashes. They tell stories. The leprosy brought on by rings---not so much. The 200 lost its virginity on the way home from the dealer purchase trying to cross a creek shelf.

Based on the location of a pretty deep scrape on my rings from Moab...I'm fairly certain I'd have destroyed a valve stem without them. They are definitely more than just bling. ;)
