I bought my 4runner about six years ago to have a comfortable and reliable 4x4 I could explore the So Cal desert and mountains with. I wanted to be able to camp out of it, wheel it, and drive it to work on Monday.

I dont drive it to work very often now, but it suits the terrain I frequently see.

Over the years it has changed as my levels of interest have.

Here is how it started off..

I have done a lot of the work. Had a buddy help me with the axle swap...he has a plasma cutter, and he is a great welder.

I am installing a TRD e-locker in the front axle. I also have a 1st gen 4runner roll bar to install.

As far as interior mods...just a lot of So Cal dust

Marc P, have you tried to fit the roll bar in the 95 yet? I also want to take the roll bar from my 85 and put it in the back of my 95. Makes a good place to mount stuff. please let me know how that works out.

Nice truck, just the right size. Now that I bought the wife a new Subaru, I am ready to modify our 95 4runner. Already put in OME springs and shocks with ARB rear air locker. This month, taking out automatic and putting in manual transmission w/ 4.7 Marlin gears. SAS maybe this winter, I already have the axle in the garage.

Thanks....it works real good. I have seen other threads on installing the roll bar. You need to cut a little over 2 inches off the legs and re-weld the mounting plates to make it fit.

Here is my thread on Yotatech...
