Wasn't too sure were to post because It's bone stock so far and ugly as hell
History : The Truck was bought from the dealer new and had 1 owner ( My girlfriends uncle ) For the last year or 2 its been sitting in his garage or out in the driveway
He never really looked after it other then a oil change or replace something that broke. Anyways i asked him about it and he told me if you want it take it .. It drives however ..fuel leak spongy brakes and no insurance. I got it towed $5000 fine for no insurance if caught
Getting it home and looking it over it needs alot. Canadian winter Ice snow and salt hurt it .. Lower control arms rusted holes both sides Rear panels above the wheel wells rotted rear side bumper behind again rotted
So After Taking out most of the "guts" of the old door and changing the Lock on to the new gate and a mess! of wires Both been cut before and the 2 wire sensor that go's over the lock is now a 3 wire sensor ..everything works but putting the window up from the lock ..Have to use the switch inside the truck instead
Just a heads up to you all that have OE mud flaps I'm sure the girlfriends uncle didn't do any off roading but he never hand washed the truck ether always if anything he took it to a drive thru wash and most of the dirt was washed into nooks and cracks of the truck and sat there building up over time .. We all know that dirt holds water and when near metal it rusts..
Well here is dirt and rust inside the mud flap that i only used my hand to pull off the truck Remember to power wash this area good
More Pictures to come Need to work on the rust and filling in with layers of fibreglass and Dynoglass (bondo/fibreglass mix) New side and back bumper and fittings ( black )
Check the front cross member on the frame. Mine fell off because it was so rusted out. Oddly the main frame rails where it was attached to were ok. It's the salt and other ice melting chemicals that are the killers. Mine came from southern New Hampshire where they spray the ice melting chemicals on way to often.

Ya oddly the The frame and front cross member floor pans are solid I do see a undercoating The only rust "spotting" i see is in the spare tire area The tire isnt there and i guess when the undercoating was applied the tire was there and they never bothered. I will sandblast spring 2013
The worse area was the rear wheel wheel areas started from the chrome trim were dirt sat and the mudflaps The tailgate i guess had the water holes at the bottom plugged with dirt too The rest of the rust is small bubbles at the doors and fender @trim Which come spring with be replaced with aftermarket I eneded up getting used A arms from a southern state for $50 plus $50 shipping which was better then the $350 each the dealer wanted
So today was nice out I grabbed a wire wheel for some finshing prep work cleaned off the metal and started the fiberglass work The holes i filled in a few layers of glass first then threw over a layer leaving a bit of a indent to be filled later with dynoglass (green filler and fiberglass mix This is before sanding
Not the best job to do outside with no gloves ( hands were stick as heck) ..done glass work many times ..in a shop Anyways I let it harden Grabbed a electric palm sander and 120 grit to knock down the high spots and get it flat leaving just the low spots and feather edging around the work
Tomorrow i might have time to finish the rest of that area and start on the other side with glass. I will post the finished
Yup seen them before Thanks! rather just fix the few holes with a few layers of matted glass then a whole 1/4 panel of glass and gelcoat Theres a auto scrap yard up the street that has all metal 1/4 cut outs But it's not that bad and i'm looking at what i got on the cheap
