I swapped out wheels today with cloned sensors and I think the computer got confused having the new ones installed and the old ones nearby (10-15ft away). Because they were so far away I didn't think the truck would pick up the signal of the old ones but when I drive away from the shop the "checking" light started flashing. Now I have an error message.
Any idea how to reset or reunite alive the system?

I have two sets of wheels/tires - the OEM street wheels/tires with TPMS sensors installed, and the TRD wheels/tires with no TPMS sensors.

When I have the TRD wheels on, which is most of the time, the OEM wheels are stored in the garage - about 20 feet from where the LC is parked. Upon starting the LC, the TPMS system in the truck reads the sensors in the OEM tires - even though they are 20 feet away. Tire pressures are shown on the display - everything is fine according to the system.

When I drive away, the system hunts for the tire sensors, doesn't find them, and after about 20 minutes I get the blinking tire pressure warning light which, after about another 5 minutes, glows continuously. I never see the "Check Tire Pressure System" warning screen you show in your post above.

Sounds like you may have to have some coding done to your onboard TPMS. Or maybe you have a bad clone.

That's exactly what happened.
Let me ask you this. What happens when you start the truck away from those OEM wheels and sensors??

If the low tire pressure icon was steadily illuminated when I shut the truck off, and I am away from the OEM wheels/sensors, then the truck starts up with the low pressure icon still steadily illuminated. It doesn't go through the whole 20 minute search, blink, then steady routine.

I run three sets of wheels with cloned sensors in two sets. I have never had an issue of any kind. I normally store the unused wheels in another building on the property. Reading this I realized that I had a set sitting on a race trailer right next to the LC. Still no issues. If you run a shared spare (I only have 14 wheels-so the two 31.5 inch sets use the same spare and the other five are 33 inch). It is crucial to keep track so that you don't end up with that legitimate spare on the ground with the wrong set of wheels. In that case you would have two wheels with the same sensor ID "on the vehicle." And you will have to use an ID sensor or a ton of patience to sort out the bodies. It would be simpler to just run 15 wheels instead of 14 but it was something I did not anticipate.

@chilibit - mind sharing where (best price) and what brand of clones you purchased
thanks - picking up a second set of RW's this weekend

I don't recall the prices but contact Stan who manages Ashley Tire and Wheel in Lexington, Ky. They know their business very well. I am quite fond of the 17" inch RW wheels. I will switch back to them around Easter it looks like this year. I will forward this link to Stan so he will have some background.

thanks man

The TPMS reset procedure is defined in the owners manual for my 2014. It works as long as the sensors IDs have been stored in the computer's memory.

I could not find this in my book, I found the reset button under the dash. Pushed it with no change.

If you changed TPMS sensors then you must do a "re-learn". this requires a connection to the OBD II interface and an upload of the new sensor ID's.

I bought the software and plug off eBay to program my TPM sensors and disable the seatbelt chime.
It was cheap. If your local your welcome to use it.

Are you using the techstream and mini VNC with a laptop?

Assuming your sensors are recognized by your system, did you follow the correct reset procedure?

Here is how it is explained on page 28 of the Quick Start Guide:

Here's my slightly more detailed explanation of that same procedure:

- Inflate all tires (including spare) to your desired pressure (tires should be Cold - preferably not driven on for an overnight)
- Transmission in Park, Emergency Brake On, foot NOT on brake pedal
- Push the Start/Stop switch twice to turn ignition fully ON
- Switch the dash center display to the page that shows the tire pressures for each tire
- Press and hold the TPMS Reset button under the dash until the TPMS Warning Light in the dash blinks three times
- Release the TPMS Reset button and wait a few minutes for the system to re-learn the correct pressures and re-populate the center display values
- Turn ignition OFF

I just did this on mine last week (after readjusting the PSI per Gaijin's instructions). Very easy. The trick for me was to remember that I needed to then drive over 40 mph for at least 10 minutes. The button was pretty easy to locate. Just reach under 3-4 inches from the lower, front edge of the plastic trim piece.

Careful you don't accidentally push the *self-destruct* button just behind the reset button!
(or is that just on my CIA version?)

VNC with Laptop. If the only thing I could do was recode the sensors it was worth it.
My original wheels were stolen out of storage so I had to replace the sensors.
I also have the sensor cloning computer so you can have multiple sets of wheels with cloned sensors.

OK, what am I doing wrong? 2008, I had noticed the Spare (top in the list, it doesn't say which tire is which in the display) was getting kinda low. On a road trip for Tgiving - TPMS warning light comes on, and the annoying yellow warning triangle center dash. OK, fine, stop and check air - all look fine but went ahead and added some to all four drive tires (not spare) to about 37 hot. Figured I would get the spare later.

Later came, aired up the spare to ~33 cold. Attempted the procedure above, multiple times. No love. In fact, my light blinks for 60 seconds and stays on, indicating I need to go to the dealer. Really? I know the tires are good.

When I attempt the procedure - I can hold the (really freakin' hard to find the 1st time) TPMS reset button down indefinitely - no change in the blinking light - it blinks 60 seconds and goes solid. I.e. I can't tell that the button is working, assume it is not - since I can't verify 'blinks 3 times'.

It was "working" fine before the spare got low - and it WAS low - low 20's. I guess it could be coincidence it just so happened to get a TPMS system fault at the same - exact - time - but, come on.

Any chance you have a dead sensor? I read that some tire shops can scan them with a handheld scanner to determine if one or more has failed.
