Hope it works :wrench:

Edit: BTW...that looks like an FJ43 or 44 tub that was mated to the original FJ28 cowl...have you measured it from the front axle to the rear axle? Curious to see what the wheel base is on it... More the reason to make it an FJ28 pick up

It is 96" in the wheelbase

Chassis is in great nick with maybe 1% pitting. Still has original blue paint in places:clap:.

Has anyone in Oz got a good 43 body?

The reason it wouldn't shift out of gear is the selector forks are locked tight and the gears aren't much better with a heavy coating of red mud and rust. A good soaking in molassis for a couple of weeks should see it look a lot better.

Well here it is after soaking in molasses for 3 weeks. No degreaser used and only a cheap pressure cleaner to blast it afterwards. Awsome:clap:

Nice Work

Well guys,
I don't seem to ever have the time to do anything on the old girl as I always end up with other more parts accessible projects. (up to cruiser #69 now lol) so I was thinking of selling the old girl on to someone who will have a crack at it. Any one interested??

There's a bloke I know in NSW who just bought an FJ28 SWB, but with the stock smaller door opening. I can try and contact him?

OK, for all of you that have contacted me, here are some pics I took this morning. I have all 5 wheels. I did find a small rust spot and where the chassis has been welded and had body mounts and plates welded on for the fj43 body. Front crossmember appears to barely even have any surface rust. I have a nice fully rebuilt F135 which would look nice in there.

It's true, he does.

1958s would have had the f105 Is that correct? I have seen a f110 in a1962 fq15 toyota did any landcruisers have that version or go to the f120

My understanding is that the 135 is still an F engine. According to SOR.COM it should have bee built between Jan and Oct 1964.

they are similar at first glance but when parked beside an early 1960's fj40 the differences scream at you. The main one is the rocker cover is the same as the chev blitz. The gearbox is basically a newer version of a 1927 car gearbox and shares common components to the blitz as well from what i,ve been told.

It's pretty much a 235 blue-flamer isn't it? Wheel stud pattern is early Chev I thought.

it is the six lug chevy pattern. hub diameter is a bit larger so if you run chevy rims, you have to open it up a hair.

Cool, thanks dude. I always wondered. What about the 235 origins of the F?

Hi guys,
For those who were asking, the front diff rotates freely and feels smooth with only about 1/4 in of preload freeplay and the oil is clean and see thru.
The rear diff also rotates freely and feels smooth with only 1/4 in or maybe a smidge more of preload freeplay and the oil is so clean it looks like it was changed the day before it was parked.
Also the engine oil is see thru and clean so i believe that in general it was serviced well. The reason the gearbox was yuk was because there was no roof over it and the rain got in it sometime via the lever when it was parked for 2 years before I got it.
