I do not believe Sankei 555 to be the same as Toyota OE tie rods. If the same price, I'd go Toyota.

We'll, I didn't write the purchase order for Toyota or bolt the parts to the the trucks at the factory, so I do not have first hand knowledge, but everything I've ever read about 100s has said that Sankei Japan is the OEM for the tire rod ends.

@cruiseroutfit sells both 555 and OEM outer TRE's, perhaps Kurt can chime in. A picture of the two side by side would be even greater =)

Sure. I'll post some side by sides tomorrow

Keep in mind there are two lengths of ends on the 100/470 (98-02 & 03-07 and they need to match the length of the inner end. All of our sets are of course matched :D

Well, there is the difference. The 555's look sand-cast, are the OEMs forged? They don't have the same rough finish and casting seam as the 555s. Or are they just a slightly cleaner casting?

They are both absolutely forged, the Toyota unit just has a higher level of finish work and paint. Fwiw we've sold 10,000+ 555 TRE's and have had exemplary service with them. I've got a customer running King of the Hammers on them next week

Already have them on mine, but Florida trails aren't quite King of the Hammers. :-) Thanks for the info!

Can anyone chime in on proper placement of the dust boot ? Just got back my rig from Toyota and it appears the boot isn't clamped all the way tight so it moves.

For example one of the clamps ( new tie rods have these plastic adjustable clamps ) wasn't that tight and with the wheel fully turned it compressed the boot and it doesn't spring back.

I assume the boot should be pulled all the way over the threads and secured near the adjustment nut but I'm not sure , maybe it needs to be kept kind of loose to be able to compress and what not?
