Got my skins for my front seats in yesterday. Went to a local place and was quoted $450. Lseat so I get the seats, headrests, center console and armrests. Also gonna build up the bottoms. Good price or keep looking?

I think in Riverside that's a pretty good price. Which shop are you considering?

My dad gets everything done down in TJ for super cheap, but that's 2hrs south and I'm not sure which shop he's using. All I know is that the owner lives in SD, but owns a shop down there.

I am using American auto upholstery in corona. Just spent an hour with the owner, good reviews on yelp, very nice guy. Not many options outside of la.

IIRC paid $650 in Irvine, CA several years ago for fronts, armrests, center console and 2nd row seats. I'd have to look up who it was but got an industry referral from someone here on Mud that used to be up in the San Fernando Valley. Places he knew up there was just too far for me, but referral and intro got me what I felt was a good price then compared to other quotes I'd gotten here in OC.

So it's sounding like he is at the standard or a bit below. All in all I can't wait to get the new cow installed and tick another box off my list.

honestly I would be more concerned about the quality of the material they are using. I was lucky enough to get a seat of shane's metric tlc leather and it is very thick and high quality. I have seen other seats done with very thin leather material that easily cracks and fades. A good quality leather will be thick and can stretch, similar to an actual hide on a animal if that makes sense.

What part of socal do you live in? I can try to help you out, all our customers and Upholstery shops...

Don't mean to hijack the thread, anyone out there in Colorado that knows of a good leather installer. Debating on the Lseat covers and may need someone to install or if there is a shop that does there own leather.

I am in riverside city.

Ill check tomorrow for some installers in Riverside, but if you don't mind driving up to Ontario, I know of a really good shop:
Raul's Auto Trim, ask for Rauly. (909) 983-6814 Tell him Harry from Veteran Company referred you.

ah I see, it is alot of work to get them installed, my hands hurt like crazy after doing just the front 2 rows. Took me a long time.

I've got Shane's kit as well, was thinking of doing it myself. Were there any threads here on Mud that you referred to or did you learn as you went? Any tips?

I reupholstered the seats in my old '68 Cutlass a few years ago, but I think this project is going to be quite a bit more difficult than that.

No I just jumped into it, typical for me, lol. I just went slowly and used the other seat as an example of how things should come together. The biggest thing to remember is that the leather is going to need to be stretched in order to fit correctly. Do this in a warm garage and warm up the leathers in the sun before working with them if possible. My forearms and hands were dead after the project from pulling. Also, be mindful of when you cut the openings for the side panels. I screwed these up a bit as I was not careful and had to glue a cut back together using a backing piece of leather, no biggie, minor imperfection. Good luck.

We have a really good shop in alameda. He quoted me $600 for install if I brought in my own covers, and $1400 if he built from scratch at the shop (fronts, headrest and top of center con. + foams.) + $99 for seat heater. That's for two tone colors in the 40th, with nice thick hide leather...

Probably going to go with the custom option when I do it, unless a pair of Recaros appear somehow.

That said, seats are about last on my punch list, need to get through base-lining first.

Call Dominik at Monaco Auto Trim (303) 781-5183 and tell him Harry told you to call him.

Hi Harry! Long Time!! I still miss your mom's hummus you brought to SnT many years ago. The spiced chicken too!!

Relevant to this thread, Harry is the one that got me the recommendation down here in OC for the install of Shane's leather kit I referred to up in post #5. His referral was great.
