Has anyone ever managed to repair the igniter on a Benzomatic Mirco torch? I have an older (over 10 years) version of THIS.

Benzomatic (now owned by Worthington) tells me to toss it but I can't :crybaby: They don't list a repair kit which I assume is due to CYA.

I bet it is a pezio based spark ignition. It may be possible to cobble together your own replacement parts, but it may be hard to figure out what it needed. I have no clue what is needed for it.

I'd start trolling yard sales for a replacement...

Lots of piezos on gas BBQs. Got no idea if any fit.

Yup, it's a simple piezo igniter and probably similar to a butane lighter. I will take it apart to see what's up. Hate to throw it away though; we've been through so much together <sniff>

simple fix.

I have noticed that in my full size propane torch, the wire gets unhappy inside the tube and it basically shorts out-no spark means no fire. I just took off the top, moved the wire from the side (closer/further) and presto sparko. I must say that I know nothing about the one pictured but those ignitors take forever to wear out.
